UMAH International Primary School was founded by the United Muslim Association of Hong Kong in 1996. UMAH is a non-profit charitable organisation that also operates an elderly home and funded construction of the only mosque in the New Territories. The Primary school’s medium of instruction is in English but optional supplementary lessons include Cantonese, Arabic and Urdu. A majority of students are from Southeast Asian nations, but admissions are open to all and diversity is highly valued. Class sizes are generally very small, creating an intimate learning environment in a school with a strong sense of community.
